Myth Busters Rocket Sled Video

Directions: Watch the video in realtime (Not slow motion) and record the time period for the sled from stopped to just before impact. Combine that with the stated top speed in the video to calculate the acceleration rate. Show the calculation on a clean sheet of paper that will be handed in by the end of the period.

So you think you can drive?

You are traveling at the 25 mi/hr speed limit and you see a child jump out into the street chasing a puppy 13.0 meters away. Once you hit the brakes it will take 2.1 sec to stop the car. Using your personal reaction time from the ruler test (around 0.20 sec) figure out if you will hit the child and puppy.

You may use your laptop to lookup any conversion factor, ie meters to miles. Hint---There are two calculations here! You may work with a partner, but both people must show their work. I will come around to check.
